“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up” – Babe Ruth.
Last weekend, I witnessed my long hours, frustrating moments, sweat and tears pay off. For the last 2 years, I have owned and self-trained my ex-racehorse “Rev The Chev” into becoming my all-round riding pony. For most its nothing, but for me its highly rewarding.
(Prepare for some bragging and happy moments!)
After putting long hours and so much time into this horse, its safe to say we had our first barrel race on the weekend, and we killed it. Unfortunately, because they were only exhibition runs I didn’t get our times; however I was stoked.
It’s amazing to work with such an athletic and loving animal, and progress through so much together. I strongly believe in working hard to achieve my goals, and that’s exactly what I have been doing for the last 2 years with Chevy. I’ve sacrificed things I love, like weekends away or with friends, and schoolies to work along side Chevy and work towards our goals. And now I can say it has all been worth it!
I was lucky enough to have my mum come with me and capture some amazing photos. Our morning started off with a 6am wake up, and a half an hour drive to Comet. Once we arrived at the rodeo grounds we nominated and saddled up. I was lucky enough to score three runs, where my pony gave this all. I can’t wait for more improvements in the future!
I’d like to give a huge shout out to my Mum, Dad, Nana, Pony Club instructors and everyone else who has helped me to get to where I am with my horses. Not only your knowledge, but motivation has helped me continue working for what I want. So thank you.
Also thank you to “Miss Chicks Country” for my gorgeous bandanas, and “Faith By Gem” for all my beautiful earrings. You girls keep me looking funky! Give them a like on Facebook!
I’ve attached some photos from yesterday below.
Thanks for reading. I hope you’re weekend was as joyful as mine!
Remember to never give up, and work your ass off!
